Myanmar Air Force Strikes KIA’s Kungsa Post, Artillery Units Fire Multiple Motors

Burmese army’s Nhkram-based troops on Wednesday fired 3 rounds of 81 mm mortar shells on KIA’s Gidon post beginning 9:40 am, reported KIA a frontline source. The shelling lasted for about ten minutes. Nhkram was previously a KIA station but seized by Burmese army.

A KIA’s frontline post at Kungsa Bum, located between Tarmonye and Mung Ji in northern Shan State, was attacked by Burmese army’s 99th LID troops on Oct 4 at around 8:40 am. Subsequently, an artillery unit stationed at Mung Ji Byuha hill fired 7 rounds of 105 mm howitzer on Kungsa post. Two Mi-35 attack helicopters later came in support of ground troops at around 3 pm and fired several missiles on KIA’s positions, reported KIA sources.

A battle took place between KIA’s 2nd Battalion troops and about 30 soldiers under Burmese army’s 99th LID at Zai Ne on Oct 4 at around 5:30 pm. The battle lasted for about 30 minutes.

A combined force of Burmese army troops reportedly consisted of soldiers from Light Infantry Regiments (381, 382, 383, 384, 388) under Mogaung-based 3rd Military Operations Command (MOC-3), Light Infantry Battalions (29, 37, 260) under Northern Regional Military Command (NRMC), Infantry Battalions under Pathein-based South Western Regional Command, Mandalay-based Central Regional Command and Kalay-based Regional Operations Command launched another attack on KIA’s Gidon post on Oct 3 at around 7 am. The battle lasted for about 4 hours.

On the same day, a helicopter from Myitkyina air base transported full load of ammunition to Kagam Bum, a hill currently stationed by Burmese army troops.
