Statement by the AA, MNDAA, and the PSLF/TNLA | November 18, 2015

  1. We, the Arakan Army (AA), Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) and Palaung State Liberation Front/Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA) honor and welcome the establishment of a government speedily, based on unity, in accordance with the will of the people of all the nationalities, and taking over duties of the country by the NLD, which has won a landslide victory in the 2015 general election by garnering vote of the entire people of all the nationalities, as it is really taking initial step toward genuine peace for the Union of Burma/Myanmar.

We believe that together with the NLD government led by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, which is going to take up duties as government of the Union of Burma/Myanmar, we will be able to terminate the nearly 70 years long fire of the civil war and hold political discussions and dialogue. We would like to affirm that we are ready to join hands with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s NLD for the realization of a genuine federal union State, on the basis of Panlong promises and spirit.

We believe that the fruitless peace process of U Thein Sein government, which has been conducting military offensives in the regions of the ethnic nationalities on the one hand, and which has been making a fraudulent show of effort for peace on the other hand, would be reviewed accurately by the great winning party.
  1. Though the current U Thein Sein government has been saying that it will transfer power smoothly to the winning party, the launching of all-out battles up to the level of air attacks in the ethnic nationalities’ regions, the creation of fake battles to amplify the fire of civil war and the beginning of new offensives in order to blame the EAOs – are systematic machination by it to manufacture political problems for the new government coming to power. Accordingly, it is a time especially for all of us to maintain high political alertness.

We, the AA, MNDAA and PSLF/TNLA, with this statement, urge the entire people of all the nationalities to aid and support unanimously the victorious NLD party for the formation of government for the successful establishment a modern and developed democratic federal union, after the termination of civil war in Burma/Myanmar.
