“Heart for Freedom” is a one hour documentary about the Karen People and their struggle for Freedom in what has become the world’s longest ongoing conflict. Since World War II the Burmese military has waged a brutal war against the ethnic Karen People. The story unfolds with a Karen village being rebuilt in 2010 after being burned to the ground by Burmese Soldiers. General Nerdah Bo Mya of the Karen National Defence Organisation (KNDO) takes us on a journey through Karen State, Burma amid the tangled web of war and politics, that has engulfed the region. The Karen will never surrender and remain defiant in the face of the brutal Burmese Army which seeks to drive the ethnic population from their ancestral lands and control the natural resources of the Karen and other ethnic nationalities in Burma.
