It is reported that Burma army shelled 2 villages in Tangyan Township causing 2 injuries and 2 houses burned down.
On 15 April afternoon at around 1.30 pm, Burma army fired 5 mortar shells into 2 villages in Loi Zay tract. The reported 2 injured villagers were: Ar Lu, male, 17, an ethnic Chinese and a 14-month old Ar Way Chen, also an ethnic Chinese boy.
The parents of Ar Lu were Chen Kim Shu and Fang Tung. Ar Lu was injured at his leg; and at 3.30 pm, he was transferred to Tangyan for treatment. Ar Way Chen was a son of Lao Hai and Ar Shang Ming. He was slightly injured at his bottom. It was reported that 3 rounds of shell landed in the house compound: 1 at a cattle corral, in front of the main house, 1 shell in the north and another in the south of the house.
According to local news sources, the heavy weapon shells came from Burma army base at Loi Fa Pha.
Another incident of shelling into Wan Kao Long village came from Wan Hwepu, where a Burma army unit is based. Some of the shells hit two houses belonging Loong Hsai and Ai Samlam, which were burned down. It is also reported that most of the people from Wan Kao Long have fled and are now taking refuge in Tangyan.
Most of the refugees who have fled from the clashes between SSPP/SSA are now staying with their relatives in Tangyan. Some 30 people among the refugees have reportedly return home, but some 400 still remain at the Wat Aung Mangala refugee center.
