IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT (November 29, 2018)
Dear Friends and Colleagues, due to current lack of resources, Burma Link is pausing information sharing until such time that we have adequate means to continue to a high standard in line with our Mission and Values. This pause in media sharing includes updating the resource collection on our website, sharing information on Facebook and Twitter, and updating our media monitoring spreadsheet. With Peace and Love, Burma Link Team
Since May 2016, Burma Link has systematically documented publications by local and national news sources, non-governmental organizations and civil society organizations to a structured database. The Burma/Myanmar Media Monitoring Database focuses on ethnic issues — particularly conflict, displacement, and related topics — and has been available for public viewing since January 2018.
The database is available here:
The database provides day-by-day news monitoring and an extensive source of information and resources that can contribute to further news reporting, academic studies or independent research on Burma issues.
The following focus areas are covered: (1) Silencing of Human Rights Abuses; (2) Ethnic Unity and Disunity; (3) Displacement; (4) Peace Process; (5) Armed Conflict; (6) Human Rights; (7) International Issues Concerning Ethnic Nationalities. You can search the full database including entries in all focus areas, or browse entries in one focus area only. You can also conduct a search by keyword or by filtering dates and/or focus areas. The database includes instructions for effective use.
