This video by the Karen National Defense Organization (KNDO) exposes how the Burmese Regime has made the ethnic regions of Burma one of the most heavily mined areas in the world. Civilians and soldiers alike suffer from landmines and decades of persecution from the Burmese (Myanmar) regime. This video shows the results of Burmese landmines in Karen and Kachin State in 2012 – 2013. The goals of the KNDO is the defend its people and the KNDO also stands strongly in unity with the UNFC and other ethnic nationalities who struggle for freedom.

It’s not only the Burmese military who has laid landmines in the Karen State. Karen soldiers have also laid landmines all over Karen areas, albeit for understandable and very different reasons than the Burmese.
The KNLA and other ethnic armies are vastly outnumbered by the Burmese military and ironically, have to lay landmines in their own areas to protect the villages and keep the Burmese soldiers away.
It is important to understand the vastly different reasons why the Burmese and the Karen lay landmines in Karen areas.
